Balcony TV Workday by jas patrick

Back in February of this year I played an internet show called Balcony TV.

It was unbelievably cold and honestly, unbelievably cool.  Great people, great concept and we had a helluva time.  I almost wish they did some sort of Balcony TV Concerts or something, you know what I mean?

You’re 9 floors up with the Nashville skyline behind you and it’s just you and your acoustic guitar.  Gimmicks, shall not save thee now!

Dude, you are so screwed if they ask you to play your guitar...

But “Oh what a mind-blast” as the great Stanley Unwin said so eloquently in ‘Happy Days Toy Town.’

The concept goes as follows:  They have this performance series that airs freely on their online website and on YouTube.  They bring in talent and have them perform a song on a balcony in famous cities all over the world.  The have a show in Dublin, London, Nashville and many more.  I was one of first they invited to play in their Nashville location–played within a couple weeks of their start date… I was pretty blown away and grateful!

So anyway, on the date I played, it was in the absolute dead of winter.  Needless to say, being 9 floors up at night on a winter’s night in one of the coldest winters Nashville has seen in years… Well, let’s just say numb fingers, freezing cold strings, vicious winds were enough to ensure that chestnuts weren’t roasting…

Nevertheless… I can appreciate a good idea when I see/hear one and Balcony TV is a great one!

I played “Workday” from my debut album ‘Working on My Soul.’  Lyrically, it’s one of my more favorite songs.  I think it came off well; albeit, a touch fast.  wink… fucking cold does that, man!

Thanks to the Balcony TV folks for having me out and I look forward to playing there again!  Special thanks to Giovanni and KM!   You guys rock!

In the meantime…
